The first-ever special edition Accelerate Corporate "Next-generation Industrial Refrigeration – from Japan to the World" sheds light on the new generation of low-charge, high-efficiency NH3/CO2 secondary systems challenging traditional ammonia systems.
While ammonia has long been an accepted industry standard refrigerant, especially in larger industrial refrigeration systems, a new generation of natural refrigerant technology is shaking up the sector. Driven by regulatory and technology change, reducing ammonia charges while simultaneously increasing energy efficiency now hold the key to unlocking the full potential of HFC-free systems around the world. The range of cutting-edge technologies delivering on this promise is wide, from low-charge ammonia systems and ammonia/CO2 cascade and secondary systems to CO2 transcritical systems and, to a smaller extent, systems using hydrocarbons and air.

The first-ever special edition Accelerate Corporate – ‘Next-generation Industrial Refrigeration – from Japan to the World” – sheds light on the new generation of low-charge, high-efficiency NH3/CO2 secondary systems challenging traditional ammonia systems. Japanese group Mayekawa, whose system reduces the ammonia refrigerant charge to just 25kg from an original 300-400kg, outlines its five-year global strategy and highlights best-practice installations of its NewTon technology in Japan and South-East Asia.
